Waters in Check at Swindle Beck
RSPB Haweswater work in partnership with United Utilities to conserve The Lake District's Swindale Valley. Together, they are attempting to make the catchment more resilient towards the impacts of climate change, while restoring the valley's natural processes. This includes increasing biodiversity and helping the land lock up more carbon from the atmosphere, while also ensuring the land remains just as beautiful and enjoyable. The partnerships work on Swindle Beck's rivers comes as a result of unwanted flooding throughout Cumbria, which we can tackle by slowing of the rivers waters. This is also helpful for the fish which inhabit the waters, as they can access the nutrients from the soil much more easily.
